Sun Tzu was a ancient Chinese philosopher, general, and military strategist. We all know the favorite story where he tells the king he can even make the concubines do drills. He then of course kills 2 of them after they disobey his orders. Then they execute the drills perfectly. He sacrificed two to get the the discipline of many.
He wrote the art of war with possibly the help of a few others, but it doesn’t matter. What does is the text. It has awesome principles, strategies, and guidelines for war. You can apply them to business or games you play. Or if the world ends, at least you have an understanding of military strategy.
If you are interested in historical text, eastern philosophy, or strategy then this book is the starting point. It is practically what all the other books are based on. I recommend getting the illustrated hard back one. Unless you are about digital books and minimalism.
Anyone who considers joining the military should go ahead and buy this book. If you learn it well, your superiors will be impressed by your initiative. Many generals swear by this book. It can’t hurt at least.
Expect this book to be a bible that you have to translate. You have to translate it to apply to your own life. The book is vague so it might be a good idea to write down some answers you are looking for. Then while reading, check back to the list and see if you found the answers.
I can’t say a lot about this book except it is full of timeless general wisdom. Its legacy speaks for itself. If you want to see more of this book, make sure you go to my twitter page. @Mansbestreads
